Subject: Restructuring of the Sales Team

This memo is a response to the management`s concern about the need to restructure the sales team, which currently consists of four divisional vice presidents who oversee fifteen district managers. The new structure will consist of two divisional vice presidents who will now manage three regional directors. The regional directors will oversee and supervise ten district managers. In this memo, I have recommended the best strategies for how to go about implementing the change and the ways of effectively executing the plan, as easy as possible. The memo will also make a draft of the communication plan that explains the reasons and needs for these transformations to the organization.

Strategies of Implementing the New Sales Structure

The new sales organizational structure has an additional position of the regional directors. Therefore, there is a need for defining the job descriptions for the new position, the responsibilities of vice presidents in the management of regional directors and the roles of the district managers. The divisional Vice President will be responsible for developing plans and strategies that will allow for the required achievements for the projected number of sales for the company. He will also be in charge for the subordinate sales team, and ensuring that he encourages his team to be creative and find the best way to motivate them to do the best they can, and look for ways to continuously look for ways to make more sales and increase revenue for the company. The regional directors will be in charge of the sales operation within the larger scope of the market. He or she will work according to the directions provided by the divisional vice president. Finally, the district managers will be in charge of selling Amazon products at the local level. He or she will report to the regional director who subsequently reports to the divisional vice president. After outlining the job descriptions, the new structure will be communicated to the subordinate staff members where minor reconstructions of their roles and responsibilities will be done. The human resource department will then seek feedback from the employees about the new organizational structure and how it is working and ask if they have any input on how to build upon the new structure and make it better.

Evaluation of Ways of Effectively Executing the Plan

There are various ways of effectively introducing a new organizational structure. The information will be communicated to all the stakeholders in the organization, to ensure being an early adopter and acceptability of the proposed structure (Child, 2012). The objectives of reconstructing the organizational structure will also be communicated in all the departments, to inform them about the new goals of the management team and to align them to the transformations. The human resources team will utilize the chance of reorganizing the structure as an opportunity of motivating and changing the mindsets of all the staff members. For example, the most hardworking subordinate members will be promoted to team leaders, in order to create value for our employees, and eliminate any disruptions that might occur within the organization due to the resistance of the workers towards the proposed changes (Kaplan & Norton, 2016).

Communication Plan about the Reasons for these Changes

There are a few factors that would necessitate the restructuring of the current organizational structure into the proposed model. The previous structure was formed when Amazon was a start-up company. Currently, the company has grown to a scale-up organization where the sales operations are conducted in many regions, both locally and internationally (Kaplan & Norton, 2016). Therefore, there is a substantial requirement of introducing the regional director sales office which will oversee the operations in different regions of the market. Secondly, Amazon is revolving through the introduction of new product lines. The position of the regional director is necessary for managing the transformations which will occur within the company as a result of diversification of the products (Child, 2012). Finally, an extra position in the sales department is important in the preparation of the business for expansion and growth, in order to distribute the occupation to an extra workforce team.
