GLOBE

GLOBE is an organization dedicated to the study of culture, leadership, and organizational effectiveness. They provides a sound foundation for visualizing worldwide leadership differences. They research cultural behaviors to ascertain their impact on organizational leadership.The Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness research program examined the relationships between societal culture, societal effectiveness, and organizational leadership. The study included 62 countries and tens of thousands of participants. (Javidan, Dorfman, De Luque, House, 2006).

Each cultural cluster reflects a shared history, religion, economic development, regional proximity, and other related factors. What is Culture?

Culture is another word for the way groups of people do things in different regions of the world.

The societal culture practices for this cluster are very distinct. Societies belonging to this cluster reflect relatively high scores of the societal cultural practices on the dimensions of In-Group Collectivism and Power Distance. These societies maintain close family ties and individuals express pride and loyalty in organizations and family. Members of these societies also do not expect power to be distributed evenly among citizens. 

This cluster has relatively high scores of societal cultural practices on the dimensions of institutional collectivism and uncertainty avoidance. The high institutional collectivism findings indicate that citizens in these societies promote group loyalty and encourage collective distribution of rewards and action. The very high scores on uncertainty avoidance indicate that this society strongly endorses rules and procedures to reduce the uncertainty of future events.  

The societal culture practices for this cluster are very distinct.
