Policy for Gender Discrimination and Sexual Harassment

Policies for preventing discrimination of any kind are put in place to ensure all people, regardless of any differences, are treated fairly. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects individuals against discrimination in many different areas. Title VII prohibits employee discrimination or harassment based on sex, race, color, religion, and national origin. (FindLaw, 2019)The following slideshow will outline guidelines for discrimination based on gender alone.

It is against the law to treat someone differently based on their gender.

Gender Equality Labor Policy

All employees will be hired or promoted based on qualifications alone.During all hiring and promotion operations, all employees or future employees personal identifying information including name, gender, race, religion, etc. will be temporarily omitted from applications by support staff. Hiring officials will only be allowed to see information that pertains to past and present job related experience and qualifications.After a selection has been made, packages including ALL employee information will be built and sent to HR for processing.

Company Policy Against Sexual Harassment

Sexual Harassment is against the law.Sexual Harassment is defined as behavior characterized by the making of unwelcome and inappropriate sexual remarks or physical advances in a workplace or other professional or social situation.This company has a “zero tolerance” policy for sexual harassment. Any individuals proven to be violators of this policy will be terminated immediately and are subject to criminal actions.

Policy Regarding Employee Relationships

Employees will conduct themselves in a professional manor at all times will in the workplace. Any employees choosing to establish a personal relationship with other company employees are not permitted to publicly display their affection will on duty. These relationships will remain professional while on duty and will not hinder any employees ability to do their duties.No relationships will be permitted within the “chain of command”. Relationships between supervisors and subordinates will not be permitted at any level.

Sexual Harassment Reporting

Sexual Harassment Reporting is NOT optional.All employees are required to report any actions that may be considered sexual harassment to supervision or EO officers. Supervisors are required to up-chain any events and will follow established guidelines for reporting. All employees who witness actions sexual in nature between employees (either wanted or unwanted) are required to report these actions to supervision.

Equal Opportunity Employment

Equal Opportunity Officers are trained on federal guidelines and will help enforce federal law and company policies in regards to all matters involving potential discrimination and/or harassment. An EO officer will be available to all employees and will have an “open door” policy. Any employee who feels they were discriminated against can seek guidance from the EO officer with or without first reporting to a supervisor. All employees have a right to privacy when reporting discrimination or harassment incidences.
