HR Management and New Hires

Susan: Adam has made unwanted repeated inappropriate comments and gestures towards me. He has even gone as far as asking me out on a date with the promise of job advancement. His actions are making me very uncomfortable and I have asked him to stop several times, but he keeps on. I am not sure what else to do, and I don’t want to lose my job behind this.

Antoine: I understand and will help you resolve this situation. I can only image how difficult this is for you. As you know in the employee handbook, sexual harassment or harassment in general is frowned upon by the company. I can assure you that we will get to the bottom of this for you. Thank you for bringing this our attention.

Antoine: Adam I would like to discuss something that has been brought to my attention. We have been notified of some potential harassment issues within your department that we would like to address with you. As you know we have a zero-tolerance policy against any type of harassment here at work, as well as a policy against retaliation. It is not appropriate for you to make comments or asked your subordinates out on dates. These allegations have been filed against you and unfortunately, we will be issuing you a final warning and any further infractions will result in termination.

Adam: I understand, and I thought I was making harmless jokes I did not know it would be taken this seriously.

Antoine: Please sign this and here is a copy for your records.

Susan, a worker in the plant, came to the Human resources department to express concern about a male coworker, Adam. Susan says that Adam has repeatedly made inappropriate comments, gestures and has invited her on a date. Susan says she has rejected all requests and feels that Adam is making her life miserable due to these unwanted advances. Susan further states that Adam who is a supervisor in her area has offered her job advancement as an incentive for dating him. Susan is requesting this to be stopped and that the company takes disciplinary action against Adam. Antoine, HR manager has intervened and will be talking to Susan and Adam individually.

There are many options available for recruiting. For the customer service position, I would recruit using, Indeed, Linked In, Monster.com, Talent Bridge and Charlotte Observer. I chose these options since they are online and can narrow my search. Talent Bridge, a staffing agency would most likely be able to screen the potential employees to ensure a good fit. Lastly the Charlotte Observer could be utilized as a last resort by placing an ad in the newspaper’s employment section to gain some interest in the position.

For the production line workers, a more specialized approach would be taken since we need workers who have experience working in a production setting. I would recruit for this position using, Labor Force Staffing Agency, Charlotte Observer, Craig’s List, Monster.com and Indeed. Labor Force Staffing Agency specialized in labor position and would most likely have a good pool of potential candidates to choose from. They would also screen them to ensure they were a good fit. Placing an ad in the Charlotte Observer would be another avenue to get some candidates with production line experience. Craig’s List has many opportunities for labor specific work so an ad placed there would drawn some potential candidates. Finally, Monster.com and Indeed are two online sources that could potentially produce some viable candidates for the production line work position.

It is my hope by narrowing down my search specific to what I am hiring for, would yield better results and more qualified workers.
