This organization has continued to move from traditional methods to challenges of non-traditional forces and continuously serves culture and technological changes so that customers’ needs and expectations are met successfully. Watch the video titled, “How Disney Develops Culture” (6 min 35 s). You can also view the video at http://vimeo.com/109015050. Disney University’s four (4) fundamentals are to innovate, support, educate and entertain. Briefly describe the type of organization in which you are currently employed or were last employed. Explain and give two (2) examples how leaders sustain the culture in that organization, good or bad. Note: When incorporating information from the workplace, be sure to remove all identifying information such as the name of the organization, the names of individual affiliates, and sensitive or proprietary information.

For leaders to sustain a culture leaders must act in two fronts by creating the right incentives and removing the biggest blocks to innovation. Management have to lead by example. Addressing fundamental themes like implementation, rewards, and measurement can be used build the desired culture. Managers need to be receptive to new ideas and processes. Ideas that are reasonable need to be willingly embraced. Ideas that are questionable need to be constructively challenged. Management should advocate change and coach the workplace to better develop the proposed ideas. Culture of rewards has to be modified to match the desired culture of entrepreneurship. Companies must learn to repeatedly reinvent themselves instead of being set in permanent molds.
