WEEK 9 According to your textbook Nelson and Quick, (2015) we continue to move from the traditional methods of examining organizational design and structure, several forces are reshaping organizations such as the life cycles in organizations, globalization, changes in technology and demands on organizational processes. Give a detailed example of how your current employer or your last employer is meeting the challenges of these non-traditional forces.

My last employer is one of the fast growing IT organizations. This organization has continued to move from traditional methods to challenges of non-traditional forces and continuously serves culture and technological changes so that customers’ needs and expectations are met successfully. The organization has been able to expand globally even with the challenges of non-traditional forces.

Disney University’s four (4) fundamentals are to innovate, support, educate and entertain. Briefly describe the type of organization in which you are currently employed or were last employed. Explain and give two (2) examples how leaders sustain the culture in that organization, good or bad. Note: When incorporating information from the workplace, be sure to remove all identifying information such as the name of the organization, the names of individual affiliates, and sensitive or proprietary information. 

For leaders to sustain a culture leaders must act in two fronts by creating the right incentives and removing the biggest blocks to innovation. Management have to lead by example. Addressing fundamental themes like implementation, rewards, and measurement can be used build the desired culture. Managers need to be receptive to new ideas and processes. Ideas that are reasonable need to be willingly embraced. Ideas that are questionable need to be constructively challenged. Management should advocate change and coach the workplace to better develop the proposed ideas. Culture of rewards has to be modified to match the desired culture of entrepreneurship. Companies must learn to repeatedly reinvent themselves instead of being set in permanent molds.

COMMENT: New business are not fully defined in the beginning. Businesses become clearer as they develop and try new strategies. Because of uncertainty associated with new ventures, business need to have adaptive organizational environments to succeed. New businesses will go through a series of stages such as balancing acts, short/long-term thinking, and established new processes.
