Human Resources provide advice to management and its team on how to strategically manage its employees. In doing so it helps the organization to meets its goals and growth. Because there are various roles of human resources it is imperative for the human resource personnel to stay abreast of duties and responsibilities they are tasked with. Because there are many components of the role as HR there is one area this author has chosen to focus on, Employee Health and Safety.

Job Description

It is the responsibility of the HR representative to maintain the health and safety of the employees by following federal, state and local guidelines. Their main focus is to prevent workplace accidental injuries, deaths and or hazardous diseases. This is done by implementing safety training and wellness prevention workshops (Mayhew, 2017). The HR representative works with management to manage crossover areas like absenteenism, disability management, job design, return to work programs and sick leave (Salopek & Associates HR Blog, 2016).

It is also the responsibility of HR to make sure each employee is in his/her correct role. This will prevent someone from doing a job they are not qualified or trained for. With mass shootings, wild fires, earth quakes and a host of other natural and manmade disasters, it is very important to conduct emergency preparedness procedures in case of an emergency.

In closing it is safe to say that HR provides much needed services to it organization, not only for the owners but its employees as well.
