Discussion 1
All Organizations should use group structure as the basic building block for designing and organizing jobs, because it allows things to fall into place and flow. From our reading, it explains about the importance of structure and how it could be determine to grow (Losh, 2011).
When I was in the military it all started on that first day when you get off the cattle truck you would know that everything you did in your life didn’t matter; meaning how you dressed, how you carried yourself basically. You didn’t know if you would make friends or just be that individual that keeps to them self. I learned that the military’s structure building is intense and very effective till this day I still have old habits of keeping high standards.
Structure is important because it holds the organization together. Structure gives the guidance to understanding how to complete the task. Our text states that some groups are short lived and some are long (Losh, 2011). In the Military we dealt with short-lived and long-lived groups on a daily basis. We would get new guys or we would be moved to a different group. We also had missions that were short-lived as we moved from camp to camp. Other were long-lived everyday normal military living. It was repetitive. But I learned a lot while serving in the military and being a part of a well-structured organization.
