            Ancillary operational strategy

            Dispatch

A police dispatcher must operate a multi-line telephone console, translate information into codes, provide emergency medical dispatch and crisis intervention services, ask vital questions to provide prearrival instructions to responding units and monitor and respond to a variety of technical systems and alarms. That isn’t all their duties and responsibilities just a quick summary, but without dispatch officers and emergency response teams wouldn’t know what situation they were walking into, what to expect when they got there and how to quickly handle each situation before arrival.

            Slide 8

Each law enforcement strategy is important and necessary. With the use of operational strategies law enforcement agencies can prevent and deter criminal activity, respond to non-emergency calls in an efficient manner, respond to emergency calls, investigate crimes and work on reducing reoccurring offenses. Every law enforcement agencies goal is to reduce crime rates and help as many people as possible while making the community a safer place. They use operational strategies to make this goal achievable.
