When promoting intrinsic motivation usually it is something that is within a person. Most people do need a thank you or I appreciate what you do for me because these type of people do not strive for attention, it is just their personalities. It is their way of saying that they done something for someone, it is also their way of getting their satisfaction. Just like children, they are intrinsically motivated to learn because they always wants to achieve, to be the best they can be. They also love to learn just for the joy of doing so. In essence, they want to succeed no matter what it is, especially when it comes to their school work. So when it comes to work, teachers should attempt to make it excited for those students who are intrinsic learners because it gives them that satisfaction of accomplishing their goals (Cherry, 2017).
Encouraging engagement with students of intrinsic learners is allowing choices for them to complete a task, provide opportunities to speak about certain goals they have in life and how they will achieve them. Also ask higher order questions, this would allow for themselves to think without providing them the answer. Also encourage students to share with the class about what activity they are doing because this in turn, would let children know that it is not a competition among them. And most importantly, allow opportunities for students to plan activities together (Cherry, 2017).
Encouraging self- motivation is having pride in whatever one do. It is also having joy and peace in life itself. In essence, do not let know one tell you that you are a failure, reach for the top. One must have faith and believe. When one is thinking about quitting school, he or she must think about what lies ahead. For example, some options are not getting a good paying job, or having money to take care of themselves. So the feeling of being successful is a positive things, one must not let no one tell them any different. So staying in school is the way to go. One must follow their dream (Phelps, 2016).
As stated above intrinsic motivation come from within. It is having that personality that no one can take away. Intrinsic motivators also do not need that thank you for doing this for me because it is what they love doing. Engaging with other students would allow for opportunities to share their goals in life. It also would give the students a better opportunity to know one another better because it would make them feel that there is not any kind of competition among them. Staying in school is the way to go, one must feel that they are worthy of being and having the power to succeed (Phelps, 2016).
