Collaborative Decision Making Through Shared Governance

There is always need for an organization to have team work for it to be effective. It is therefore very important for every member to understand his or her role in building effective health care. It is also important for every individual including the members of staff to understand the benefits of governance in the health care. Committee members in a meeting have got different responsibilities whereby they act as connectors between the managers and the other members in the meeting. It also creates connections between the managers and the fields of interest to the health care organization. They provide ideas and information to the problems arising within the organization which is presented in the meeting. In addition, they also provide opportunities for the management and development of the health care. Committees participate fully in the meeting ensuring that there is effective exchange of information (May & Williams, 2012).

In attendance are those people who have been invited to the meeting and they participate fully in making the meeting a success. These people are called to attend the meeting by invitation to share ideas and to listen whether the decisions made are the best for an organization. They attend the meeting in order to respond to the calling of the meeting organizer. In attendance has a role or responsibility to accomplish in a meeting whereby they take part in decision making and other discussions concerning the issues within the organization. In addition, they participate in brainstorming activities and ensure that the meeting proceeds well. They also contribute much with their ideas and providing the unseen opportunities for the organization. These people could also take the responsibility of the facilitators and make the meeting successful. In attendances are very importance people in the meeting and their participation or their attendance is also of great importance (Leighninger, 2010).

Shared governance is whereby the staff and the leaders may interact well or freely in sharing of ideas within an organization. In shared governance, all the members focus on collaboration where sharing of decisions and ideas is their best method in organization. Shared government promotes care and safety within the organization. In our meeting, the members had a shared governance whereby they all shown much commitment in attending the meeting. This portrayed that they needed to share one decision making of the organization. They also had team ownership of all the activities and the work done in the organization. In addition, all the members in the meeting listened for the ideas from all the perspectives. There were also mutually planned ideas which were discussed by all the individuals who attended the meeting (Birnbaum, 2009).

In conclusion, different have different view concerning the meaning of a shared governance. Despite how people may understand the meaning of shared governance the fruits or results are all the same. Successful shared governance has got shared leadership whereby the members or the staffs are free to correct what is not right within the organization. All the organization’s stakeholders are free to give out their ideas concerning the organization. The leaders focus on team building and regular meetings in order to communicate effectively to all the staff members (May & Williams, 2012).
