Developmental Delays

Cognitive skill is the ability to think, communicate and understand. Babies learn by exploring their environment. Toddlers learn by naming objects, colors and numbers early childhood learn describing experiences and talking about thoughts and feelings (Morin, n.d.)Speech and language skill is being able to communicate. Babies communicate by cooing and babbling. Toddlers and early childhood use words correctly so others can understand what they are saying (Morin, n.d.)Social and emotional skills is being able to relate to one another and control our emotions. Babies express this by smiling, laughing and showing signs of affection towards familiar people (Morin, n.d.)
