Assessment can refer to the grading a particular student’s performance in a given test or assignment but it can also mean the process of evaluating an education system to ascertain the quality of ac certain problem and its contribution to learning of students (Paloma & Banta,1999) the two way that an instructor can test the reading skill of students is by; reading comprehension assessment and language comprehension assessment

Reading comprehension assessment

The key is here is to test the reading skills of students by giving them a passage to read; you will test accuracy, fluency and comprehension. The test will take about 20-30 minutes to be administered to students between ages of 11-16 years. This is what you are to do with the results; assess the progress of students, identify those students who have reading problems, think of intervention measures to take as a response to the identified problems and lastly it can be used for benchmarking and education planning.

Language comprehension assessment

A passage to be identified and an instructor will read through as students listen then some questions will be asked to determine if students understood the content of the text. Students to answer questions on the meaning, moral, characters of the story. This language skill is important in the long run in understanding and doing well in assignments and other classwork.It will also enhance the listening skills of students. After getting the results; you will determine students who problems with language and decide how to help them
