EDU 617 School, Family and Community Partnership

A community organization that I would establish a partnership with is the “Free lunch Summer Program.” The summer lunch program is offered Monday – Friday during the summer. The Summer Lunch Program provides free meals to children 18 years of age and younger. This program is funded by the US Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and local public services and nonprofit organizations has partnered with the US Department to help in providing these free meals to the youth in the community. You do not have to qualify for this program; just show up to receive you lunch between the hours of 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Helping parents in assisting that their child at least eats lunch can help in strengthening the community. There are many families that are in need and either do not know how to get help or simply embarrassed to ask for help. I know this partnership will work out and be beneficial because the location is in the same community as my school. The parents will be able to provide meals for their children without that feeling of embarrassment. This is an easy partnership because this is what the organization is known for and does on a daily basis.
