Assessment 2 Part A –

Project Using a computer, demonstrate your knowledge and skills by designing two separate posters for use within your workplace. The posters should adhere to company style and be consistent with logo, font and colour scheme.

  1. For use in the office environment or printer room: a poster explaining your company’s policy and guidelines on resource conservation and management.

2. For use in the reception area: a poster instructing visitors of your company’s procedure on accepting visitors, for example, signing in, reporting to a reception desk, wearing a pass etc. You need to keep in mind your intended audience and adjust your language and style accordingly using the following criteria

Assessment 2 Part B – Written Assessment and Project

1. Identify a hazard in your workplace or a workplace that you are familiar with. Produce a written WHS communication (less than one page) for the possible cause/s of the hazard and how it is minimised in the workplace. Three versions of the communication must be submitted including:

      • • Using software and hardware (8 marks) Answer the following questions
      • • Ergonomics: Make sure you are always in the correct posture, using safety equipment when necessary.
      • • Minimized overuse syndrome: Rearrange the workspace to keep everything needed within easy reach.
      • • take breaks: take a brief rest break. During this break, stand up, move around, and do something else

      I will use Microsoft office word and a report format.

      5. What are the requirements of the communication? (3 marks)

      Be clear, be in the appropriate language for the audience you want to reach, do not use slang.

      6. What are the logical sequence or categories should you use in this report? Why? (7 marks)

      Illustrative case studies and other examples, to clarify the intent of the

      information that you are trying to convey. Illustrative case studies serve to make

      an unfamiliar scenario, familiar and to give the reader a common language

      about the topic in question.

      7. What is the structure and contents of the communication? (5 marks)

      Internal communication structure and how to minimize hazard in a pub-like work environment.

      8. How will you review data, information and knowledge according to the structure and contents of the communication? (5 marks)

      Checking for understanding, Avoiding idioms, Business language is often contextual, Be careful of jargon and Define the basics of business.

      9. What communication requirements would you check to ensure all requirements are met? Why? (10 marks)

      I would check if the message is directed at the right person, check the House style requirements, Requirements for inclusive and non-discriminatory language and foradherence to copyright legislation so as not to offend anyone unintentionally.
