Egocentricity

Pick one characteristic from the left column (Non-Egocentric) of the Egocentricity Quiz that describes your way of thinking. Describe a time when this trait helped you.

I look for valid criticism so that I can improve. Criticism as long as it is valid and constructive criticism is good for the soul and this only makes you better because it teaches you values, when you are wrong it teaches you the correct way and like my mother says, “what don’t kill you will only make you better”. Good criticism will not kill you it will only make you better so I can use some valid criticism from time to time. Not all the time just from time to time.

Pick one characteristic from the right column (Egocentric) of the Egocentricity Quiz that describes your way of thinking. Describe a time when has this trait hurt you.

I once was the type of person that had to be correct so I felt that I was like number 2, (I hate to be wrong). My brother and I would argue for hours about a football game or a basketball game or even the team because I would always feel I was right and he felt he was always right. No one wanted to admit that we were wrong. He still feels this way even now so I just avoid any type of argument with him because he is beyond reasoning. I have learned that I am not always right and my opinions are not always correct because they are just my opinion. Even if I don’t like being wrong, it happens sometimes and I am much better at dealing with being wrong.
