Adolescence is the period of a child marked by transformation of the child to adult. This period of time has got many changes and challenges. The onset of puberty comes along with the feeling of trying many sort of new things including drugs. As a parent, it is really difficult to control what the teens do and take. This paper therefore discusses in details adolescence and drug medication use.

Adolescence and drugs are two intertwined things. They are inseparable because children in puberty period need to try everything they come across. Marijuana is the common drug used by older teens than the young ones (Kandel, & Logan, 2014). Teens take drugs in order to socially fit in their groups. Some teens even take drugs in order to deal with their life changes as we all understand that adapting to changes is difficult. Children in puberty stage may have issues with friends; family, school as well as self esteem which may make them take drugs to deal with the situation. As a parent, you should be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of drug use to your teen. Do not lecture the child but be involving and be the role model. Use the right talks, involve his or her friends and ensure that you get to know every move of your child.

In conclusion, Adolescence and drug medical use is important only when is used in the right manner (Chen, & Kandel, 2015).The parent should not underestimate what their children can do. Instead, they should be involved and encourage the child to do healthy activities like hobbies, part-time jobs, sports and other effective activities. Adolescence need to be controlled and monitored too. They should not be left to do what they want. My point is that adolescences are prone to drugs and they should be taken care of.
