Preschool Plan – PowerPoint Presentation

Preschool PlanESE 315: Survey of exceptional student

Introduction

In this presentation I will be describing the set up of a preschool classroom. As an educator of young children it is very important to know the students and their needs. As we proceed, in my classroom I have 8 students who are typical learners and developers, 3 of them have learning disabilities, and 1 who is a gifted student. My goal for this presentation is to make sure I explain the strategies necessary for each student on their needs.

Mission Statement

As a preschool educator/teacher, my goal is to try to provide the best education experience I can for each student who walks in my classroom. My mission as a preschool educator/teacher is to provide a great environment for my students and give them the best education I know how.

Laws of governing exceptional children

Section 504 of the rehabilitation act: Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act was the first disability civil rights law to be enacted in the United States. It prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in programs that receive federal financial assistance, and set the stage for enactment of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Section 504 works together with the ADA and IDEA to protect children and adults with disabilities from exclusion, and unequal treatment in schools, jobs and the community. (Disability right education and defense fund,2018)

Laws of governing exceptional children Cont.

Individual with disabilities education act(Idea): The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or IDEA, was created in 1990 and is a modification of the Education for All Handicapped Children Act. This law ensures that special needs students receive appropriate free public education in the least restrictive environment necessary to meet those students’ needs. It helps students receive the extra assistance they need but allows them to participate in the same activities as children without special needs whenever possible. (special education laws, 2018).

No child left behind (NCLB): The act requires schools in every state to develop routine assessments of students’ academic skills. While it does not stipulate that these assessments meet a national standard, the law does oblige each state to come up with its own criteria for evaluation. No Child Left Behind provides incentives for schools to demonstrate progress in students with special needs. It also allows for students to seek alternative options if schools are not meeting their academic, social or emotional needs.(Special education laws, 2018).

Classroom Environment

My classroom will be set up so that each child would be comfortable. My classroom will also have a good learning environment, physically accessible, and responsive to the need and ability of each of my students. So my classroom will be set up in the universal design.

Communication with parents

Communicating between parent and teachers will always help improve students academic achievements like they will make better grades, pass classes, and they will want to improve. These are ways I would communicate with my student parents:EmailsFace to face talk (Meeting) Weekly updatesParent teacher conference when neededPhone calls

Conclusion

In my class I know that all 12 of my students will be able to improve in my class. In this presentation I have explain how I will teach each student in my class. Developmentally appropriate practice helps a lot in the classroom because it is for all students. The lesson plan that I have provided meets all the needs of each student in my classroom and that the biggest thing for me and the students.
