Collaborative Communication

ESE 634

Dear Mr. Franklin,

I would like to address some concerns from our previous email regarding our collaboration and working together to provide the best education to our students. I am here to help you out in any situation, but I would like for you to consider the time frame you gave me to respond your email. Even though, I responded to your email in a fast manner I cannot guarantee you that I will be able to do the same with any other email you send me.

Developing a lesson plan or making modification can be quite time consuming, so I would like to ask you an estimate of time you take while developing a lesson plan or making adjustments? I am asking this question because the lesson plan you sent me is well written and it appears you took significant time to develop it. Collaborative relationship is very important when helping our students reach their educational goals, therefore it is fundamental that we establish a positive and cooperative relationship. What are your thoughts of a collaborative relationship between special ed teacher and general ed teacher? What tips or strategies do you suggest creating a positive and smooth collaborative relationship? For future lesson planning, what do you consider is the best way to communicate while discussing adjustments on lesson planning?

It is vital that you understand what collaboration means, so we can both work together and create a good relationship. Collaboration involves two or more individuals who share thoughts and work together to reach a specific goal. I would like for our relationship to be anchored by respect, good communication, and confidence. For an instance, enough time should be given to develop or modify any lesson plan you send me so I can provide the best modifications needed by the student. For future lesson planning or discussion, I would like to communicate in person by having a meeting and enough time to examine the adjustments you need in your lessons or any other concern. Collaboration is a problem-solving technique, a tool for innovation, and an attribute of organizational culture (Stoner, 2016). For this reason, it is very important that we both understand this term and is comfortable practicing it.

For appropriate correspondence to an email please send it three days prior your lesson, so I have enough time to review and make the necessary changes. For meetings please send an email one-week prior, requesting time and date that we both can attend so it will not intervene with our responsibilities. I would like to set up a meeting on October 4, 2019 at 1:45 p.m. in the conference room to discuss of our future collaboration. Please confirm or let me know if you cannot attend so we can make adjustments to our meeting.

Thank you,

Mrs. Chavez

  • Communicate with parents every week to discuss any concerns or progress of Manuel.
