Introduction

Chronic conditions are human health illnesses that persist for a long time or has long lasting effects. It also involves those illnesses that comes with time. These diseases last for more than three months. Common chronic illnesses are asthma, cancer and other viral diseases like hepatitis B and HIV/AIDS (Maes, Leventhal, & de Ridder, 2006). Chronic diseases affect the patient in a greater way compared to the short term illnesses. There are various factors that affect chronic illnesses. One of these factors is stigmatization where the patient relies on other family members for upkeep. They also experience lots of pain which makes their life very stressful to be under medication all their life.

Factors affecting twelve year old

When a twelve-year-old child is suffering from a chronic condition, he or she is likely to experience various challenges in life. One of the effects is that the child suffers from chronic pain almost all the time. He or she has to be kept under medication to help in pain reliving. For instance a child suffering from ulcers has to consider taking pain relievers every time there is severe pain. The patient also needs to observe their diet so that there are minimal pains. Another effect is that there is alteration of mobility and limitation to carry out some activities (Fisman, Wolf, Ellison, Gillis, Freeman & Szatmari, 2006). A twelve-year-old is at a very active stage but when one gets sick there is a limitation to what extent one can travel or do his or her activities.

Chronic diseases leads to isolation from other children. When a child is sick, he or she is not able to play and socialize with the rest which may lead to isolation. Children may not understand the need to show concern with the sick child which may affect the child psychologically making he feel rejected. Additionally, a lot of time is wasted seeking for medical assistance which limits the child from academic excellent.

Factors affecting seventy-five-year-old

When a seventy-five-year-old is affected with a chronic disorder, he or she experiences various effects. One of the effect is that the patient becomes stigmatized. He or she cannot work anymore to cater for his needs. To some extent the patient requires help even for the most basic activities like dressing up. Family members have to come up and cater for the medication of the patient since in most cases the person was the bread winner. They develop a feeling like they are being stubborn to other people. Due to this state they feel isolated despite having people around them to assist them on their activities (Kyaw & Rose, 2005). Another major effect is that these patients experiences severe pain therefore there is need to be kept under medication to relieve the pain.

Goals on healthy nation

The government identifies various goals that are to be implemented to ensure a healthy nation. One of the goal is identifying 26 Leading Health Indicators that are selected from high-priority objectives to show improvement. The other goal is to ensure that there is an improvement of the existing public health services (People, 2009). It has also been a goal to ensure that the public is incorporated to give suggestions on what need to be done to improve healthcare. This will help the government in acquiring all the relevant information required for better healthcare most especially in public healthcare centers. The other goal is to increase accessibility of healthcare to all people. Conclusively, when this goal is met then there will be a realization of a healthy nation since all people will be able to access quality and effective mediation at all parts in the State
