The measures of central tendency, mean mode and median indicates the general status of the parameters being investigated in a data set while measures of variation; variance, standard deviation, and range indicate the rate of change (Weiss, N and Weiss, C., 2012).

The data sets follow a normal distribution since means, mode and median are slightly different. The Blacks and the whites have the highest prevalence for cancer compare to all the other three population groups. This is indicated by the highest mean and median of 70.07, 71.4 and 62.73, 64.55 respectively while Hispanic and Pacific Islanders have the lowest prevalence for the type of cancer in question as indicated by the lowest mean and median of 31.49, 32.1 and 38.51, 38.90 respectively.

In all the population groups considered in the data set, prevalence for lung cancer and bronchus cancer is significantly decreasing within the specified period. The Asian group records a very low variation of about 5 from average, lowest spread of data and the lowest range of 7.8 while on the other hand, the Blacks records the highest variation from the mean, 45.43, the highest scatter, 6.74 and highest range of 21.6 This implies that over the period indicated, the prevalence for lung and bronchus cancer has least reduced amongst the Asians and most reduced amongst the blacks

Conclusively, all the population groups sampled between 2000 and 2015 have shown a significant response to change predisposing lifestyles to lung cancer and bronchus cancer. The degree of response varies for each group as indicated by the measures of variation; Blacks have responded the most with a variance, standard deviation, and range of 45.43, 6.74 and 21.6 while the Asian group responds the least with a variance, range and standard deviation of 5.68, 2.38 and 7.8 respectively.
