How Big Global Businesses Compare

International competitors within the cellular phone industry have become a widely studied phenomenon with a significant body of accumulated research and theory. Competition regarding international cellular phone industries has received an increasing amount of attention. Cellular phone carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon are considered the primary establishments that are expanding rapidly through the market. Society is currently residing within an economic environment whereas cellular phones are depicted as advanced technologies that have become the norm to obtain or the primary necessities that human beings require in their lives. Although competitors within the world of cellular phone carriers; AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile are becoming effective due to getting consumers to expand or upgrade their data plans, which increases consumers and market sizes worldwide.

The cellular phone industry has become increasingly superior within the last three years as a result of more reasonable cellular devices as well as lower service costs. Companies are competing in an advance technology and communication sector in which success attracts customers to buy their products and services. “The market is very competitive because each carrier offers the same products and services, but has diverse physical attributes to the phones and dissimilar costs, which buyers have varieties to select from” (Goggin, p.115, 2006). Businesses want to provide the best products and services to attract consumers by lowering cost and improving products, which makes the cell phone industry very competitive.

Here are the main factors of competitive rivalry:

Cellular phone cost: Customers wants improved services and products at a lower cost.

Bundle purposes into just one cell phone: Consisting of E-mail, text messaging, internet.

New technology improvement: Maximum mega-pixel camera and video-recording cellular phones.

Better landline services

AT&T obtains a goal to enrich their consumer’s personal lives and to make their businesses more successful by bringing to market exciting and useful communications services which can build shareowner value in the process. “AT&T has been a driving force in the wireless world. They have been one of the industry’s leaders in technology and had been a global presence” (Rosenbush, 2007). For numerous amounts of years, they were the only carrier to carry the Apple iPhone, which set them above the rest in the wireless industry. This was a strategic move on both Apple and AT&T measures as the iPhone became the highest selling phone in the industry.

Verizon Wireless is a wireless carrier that operates the largest 4G LTE network in the United States. “The establishment provides cellular phone and data services to its 98.2 million consumers” (Swords, 2014). The success of the business is largely attributed to its reliable network coverage and outstanding customer service. In addition to providing 24-hour telephone maintenance, the corporation also operates retail stores throughout the United States. “Verizon Wireless primary purpose regarding cellular phones is to provide a fast, secure and reliable network its users can depend on to stay connected and safeguard against the threat of internet security as their competitive advantage comes from its ultra-low churn rate” (Swords, 2007). It suggests that customers are satisfied with the service Verizon Wireless offers and a slight price increase probably would not drive its customers to the competition.

Apart from the previous two cellular phone entities, T-Mobile provides a wide range of mobile phones with different features which target customers in terms of their communication needs and wants. “T-Mobile has fought to gain market share in a well-established market as it was the first wireless carrier to obtain video messaging services in the United States. With a solid growth in its history, the company seems to have reserved a jeopardizing turn when it recently stopped proposing handset discounts to their consumers. Their cellular phones made thousands of businessmen become mobile and these businessmen started to transform the domestic economic relations. This corporation introduced an entirely new type of service for cellular phones, which can be used for telecommunication at any place from home.

Selected as the primary international competitor amongst the three, AT&T is the appropriate model of cellular phone usage as countries would prefer to obtain a carrier whom shares diverse values that can meet everyone’s standards and impending expectations. For its consumers, AT&T and their affiliates provide domestic and international long distance, regional, local and wireless communication services. By offering comprehensive and innovative service bundles, the company enables millions of consumers and small businesses to take advantage of competitive pricing. Their objective is not about the marketing of cellular devices but to assist consumers internationally through various forms of helpful services.

Regarding the economic systems that relates to each of the international companies, each cellular phone corporation obtain the same objective of assisting their consumers of choice. AT&T would be specifically preferred from the market economy as it for a system that heavily relies on the consumption of choices through its consumers whom are denizens of the United States and Japan. Based on the financial aspect of the economy, T-Mobile would be particularly selected for the command economy which is considered a centrally controlled atmosphere that depends on the government selecting each imperative decision that assist their countries in the best financial method as T-Mobile obtains inexpensive data plans for its consumers. Due to their reliable network coverage, Verizon Wireless correlates to being used within the mixed economy as it incorporates some governmental involvement into a market-based economy which consists of businesses and administrations that can acquire and distribute resources for optimal economic growth” (Brustein, 2014). Potential effects of an economic system that could have all various types of societies be involved is how each corporation of cellular devices could consolidate their ideas that can meet the expectation of each consumer. “Based on how each consumer prefers their own criteria when it comes to the purchase of cellular devices through a specific company; as AT&T may provide an inexpensive data plan that Verizon Wireless offers for a higher rate” (Brustein, 2014).

In regards to economic development, one of the reasons that countries may have lagged behind others are based on the resources that some particular countries may not currently possess that others acquire. “Each major competitor can contribute through providing a reasonable amount of minutes and coordinate with the basic and technical features, a family plan allows the whole family to share their minutes on one plan, strong signal reception for a network that gives the subscriber clear call quality minus the static/interference, voice distortion, echoes, and dropped/disconnected calls” (Riley 2013). If each of the major competitors were to consolidate into one corporation, it can facilitate both the establishments to combine both their features and produce attractive products.

If administered the opportunity to lead an international cellular phone corporation, I would select AT&T, due to their access of managing the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network and having a broad portfolio of complementary products and services. It includes but is not limited to wireless communication, long-distance services, telecommunications equipment and video services. Regarding education and language skills, AT&T will be have the necessities to develop secondary education technology that can assist children with their academics in any particular course; primarily mathematics and applications that is based on obtaining verbal abilities at an early age. Focused on social development and community activities, AT&T could begin to host annual fundraisers to have residents of various types of communities participate in occasions that could assist local businesses and non-profit organizations as social relationships will also be developed.

Becoming CEO within the selected international corporation, I have learned that cellular phones have turned out to be a necessity rather than a status symbol. With the advance in technology, consumers are able to experience the ease in communication. “In regards to AT&T, there are many opportunities available for growth and improvement which could begin with merging with two other phenomenal cellular device carriers whom obtain extraordinary ideas that could create the idealistic phone that could meet each consumer expectation” (Ling, p.216, 2004). The corporation of AT&T could benefit through the following forms of expansion, marketing, technology, products, services, human resources and customer services. Acquiring the intellectual ideas of outstanding designers and manufacturers can help develop a consistent amount of cellular devices that can perform an essential amount of functions. In order to progress within the impending future, this speculation can predict that this growth is only going to increase the advancement of technology.
