Lesson details

year olds because their physical and mental development skills level are beyond the skill level of the activity in my lesson plan.

  • Grade level- I chose grade level of third graders which are normally seven and eight

According to NASPE the state board of education adopted the standard in 2007. Ohio’s Academic Content Standards in Physical Education are made up of six standards they are as follow:

  • Estimated level of developmental stage for this age/grade-Although the life of a primary-age child has changed dramatically with the introduction of formal schooling, developmental characteristics through this period closely resemble those of earlier years. Children are still working hard to understand and construct social relationships, deal with their emotions, and learn about their world through hands-on manipulation of objects and interactions with peers and adults.
  • Number of students- There will be ten students involved in my activity. I chose this small group so that I’m physically able to assist each child hands on if need be. And be there for these students that my needs extra assist from me with the activity.
  • Fundamental skill to be taught-Applying movement principles and skills in a small group activity.

Standard 1: Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.

Standard 2: Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.

Standard 3: Participates regularly in physical activity.

Standard 4: Achieves and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.

Standard 5: Exhibits responsible personal behavior and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.

Standard 6: Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.
