Georgiana gets married to Aylmer a scientist who worked to figure out how nature works. Georgiana has a birthmark on her cheek which resembles a tiny arm (Hawthorne, 2017. She really likes it and she knows she looks beautiful in it because many men found it attractive. Soon after they are married, Aylmer says that he does not like the birth mark. This makes Georgiana feel bad about it especially when Aylmer tells her that he had a dream that he cut off the birth mark successfully. Georgiana gives in to this telling him to go ahead and perform a procedure to get rid of it.Alymer does that and the birth mark disappears but Georgiana dies.

Facing It by Yusef Komunyakaa

The speaker is a United States veteran where he served in the military magazine (Gray, R. J. (2007). He visits the Vietnam Memorial Wall where the names of those who had lost their lives or rather are missing in action were written. The memorial is in black color. It symbolizes the dark memories that came with visiting the memorial. As the speaker approaches the Vietnam wall he thinks he can control his emotions but he breaks down as soon as the memories come flooding in. The memories of how one of the service men had died, Andrew Johnson, haunts him and e feels as if he is actually on the field days.

Sonny’s Blues by James Baldwin

Sonny is the narrator’s younger brother who is caught doing drugs after school. It was assumed that those who abused drugs were the ones with no bright future (Learning, 2015). After Sonny re unites with his family from lockdown, he gets into an argument with his brother; Sonny does not want to go to school or even move in with Isabel’s parents. He wants to be a Jazz musician. He accepts to move to Isabel’s parent’s house after he is told about a piano at the house which he will be playing after school. They reach a compromise. However the speaker finds out that Sonny has not been going to school which is another source of conflict he has been hanging out with other jazz musicians in town.
