Introduction

Hi! I’m Jessica CrueyAnatomy & PhysiologyHomeostasisPositive & Negative Feedback MechanismsIntegumentary system & thermoregulation

Anatomy & Physiology

Anatomy: the science of body structures and the relationships among them (Tortora, Derrickson. 2013). For example: The heart & lungsPhysiology: the science of body functions & how they work (Tortora, Derrickson. 2013). For example: Organs & cells

Homeostasis

The process of all of our bodies systems working together to regulate and keep our body in balance (Tortora, Derrickson. 2013).How does a thermostat regulate air temperature within the home?Without Homeostasis we wouldn’t feel good! We need it to help balance us out on the inside!

Feedback Mechanisms

Feedback mechanisms help homeostasis keep everything within the body regulated by using conditions of one element to help regulate another.(Tortora, Derrickson. 2013).Positive & Negative FeedbacksReceptorsControl CenterEffectors

Positive Feedback Mechanism

Positive Feedback Mechanism’s strengthen & reinforce the change in the body (Tortora, Derrickson. 2013).Childbirth is a great example!

Negative Feedback Mechanism

Negative Feedback Mechanism’s REVERSE a change!Blood Pressure is a negative feedback mechanism.

Integumentary System

Skin (Epidermis & Dermis)HairNailsOil & Sweat GlandsSensory Receptors

style.visibilityppt_xppt_ystyle.visibilitystyle.visibilitystyle.visibilitystyle.visibilitystyle.visibility

Integumentary system

Skin- made of the epidermis and dermis, body’s largest organ, functions to protect, store and regulateHair- Aids the skin in protecting the bodyNails- Also aid the skin in protecting the bodyOil & Sweat Glands- Aid the skin in regulating body temperatureSensory Receptors- Aid the skin in detecting sensory stimuluses’

Integumentary System

Skin protects our bodyHair & Nails protect the skin!Oil & Sweat Glands help protect the skin as well as our hair and nails! The Sensory Receptors let us know what’s going on within our skin, hair, nails & glands. They all work together to give us the INTEGUMENTARY SYSTEM!!

Thermoregulation from the integumentary system

A negative feedback mechanismHomeostatic regulation of body temperature

style.visibilityppt_xppt_ystyle.visibilitystyle.visibility

Thermoregulation from the integumentary system

Body temperature is important to sustain life.Thermoregulation is how we keep our body temperature at a livable degree no matter the environment we are in!

style.visibilityppt_wppt_hstyle.visibilityppt_xppt_ystyle.visibilityppt_xppt_y

Thermoregulation and how it works

Integumentary system & The skeletal system

The Integumentary System & The Skeletal System work closely together! They need each other to function!Without the Integumentary System, what would cover our bones?!Without the Skeletal System, what would hold up the Integumentary System?!VITAMIN D is a great example of how they work together!

style.visibilityppt_xppt_ystyle.visibilitystyle.visibilitystyle.visibilitystyle.visibilitystyle.visibility

Conclusion

The Skeletal System is my favorite!Hope you had fun and learned a lot!A&P is the best!Thank you for your time!
