Subject: Organization of study – Amazon

The purpose of this memorandum is to provide you with my case study choice; which will be Amazon.com an online company started in 1994. Here is a brief background on Jeff Bezos the founder, who began his venture in his garage. Jeff Bezos; left Wall Street at the age of 30 as the internet revolution made its way during the 90’s. Bezos states in many articles that, “The wakeup call was finding this startling statistic that web usage in the spring of 1994 was growing at 2,300 percent a year. You know things just don’t grow that fast. It’s highly unusual, and that started me about thinking, “What kind of business plan might make sense in the context of that growth?”. Within a month’s time from the launch of his business Amazon sales are on average $20,000 per week. Jeff Bezos vision of the future of online shopping has shaped how consumers shop online today.

Amazon is the world largest online retailer known for fast shipping, Kindle, Fire Tablets, Echo & Alexa, Amazon Music, Amazon TV, Prime Video, Amazon Fresh, and anything in between. You can find anything on Amazon.com; however, it is famous for their Prime Membership, a service that offers lower pricing, free and same-day shipping, the ability to watch movies and listen to music instantly free. With competitive pricing, a wide variety of departments and selections, and overnight shipping, Amazon flourishes to be the number one store where customers go to find and purchase items online. As of today, Amazon generates $61 Billion in revenue and holds the title as the world’s largest online retailer.

Five Resources

1) Physical: Physical resources include manufacturing equipment, tools, inventories, production, buildings, vehicles, assembly and distribution facilities. Amazon owns numerous physical resources such as warehouses and film studios, but Amazon’s technological infrastructure is also a key resource (2018, March). 3) Goods: Amazon is characterized as a Corporate purchaser of… You can finish the statement with anything from milk to renewable energy. Amazon is infamous for their innovation and design which is steadily under development.

4) Human: All enterprises need human resources, but those resources are particularly prominent in knowledge-intensive and creative industries (2018, March). Retrieved from http://www.ecommerce-digest.com/key-resources.html Amazon is dependent on the human resources of its skilled inventors and assertive business force.

5) Financial: Some business models depend especially heavily on financial resources and/or guarantees: as cash, lines of credit, or a stock option pool for hiring key employees (2018, March). Retrieved from http://www.ecommerce-digest.com/key-resources.html

Strategy for further researching

An approach that I will further research is human resource taking a new look at how Amazon will aid underperforming employees, employee satisfaction, and the corporate culture. Also, analyze Amazon Prime and wither members spend more. Finally, how Amazon physical resources around the world are in crucial areas beneficial for business.

Types of information system management Issues

Emerging as an American multinational E-Commerce Company, Amazon has turned out to be leading online retailer company and offering cloud computing services (Demir, 2016). The leading issue at Amazon is the structure of the information management system. The delivery and preservation of data. The company has been exposed to threats of storing and securing the credit cards and debit cards information of more than 1000’s of customers a day (Jordon, 2008).

Preliminary discussion & Assumptions

The objective of a preliminary discussion is to recognize the importance of employee relations further. I assume that Amazon will continue on the journey to long-term growth as it continues to acquire notable companies and maintain to capture half of all online spending.
