The world war two ended finally during the summer of the year 1945. Suburbanization was the process of lower residential density, industrial and commercial development that was beyond the central city (Wuthnow, 1989). The growth of suburbs was as a result of several factors which included social legacy of depression and also mass demobilization after war. The greater movement was involving the housing and development, mass marketing and also automobiles as well. There was also a dramatic change in the demographics. Many of the families were now moving from the farms to the cities. The American culture at this time underwent a major development where the race and the dynamics had begun to shift(Wuthnow, 1989). The distance which was ling between the homes and work helped in developments of highways and booming of the house constructions where the older community had already started to disappear.

The GI Bill was of a lot of advantage especially to the veterans of the world war two. There were a lot of hospitals that came up as a result (Wilson, 1992). These hospitals were used as a vocational rehabilitation which in this case made low interest mortgages available and at the same time gave room for some of the stipends coverings the tuition and living expenses for those who were attending colleges and trade schools as well. Further in the 1966 the armed forces joined in and benefited from the same (Frydl, 2009).

After the world war two in America they switched from producing the war related products to consumer goods instead. America started by producing automobiles and was among the largest producer of the auto mobiles having Henry Ford goal of around forty years coming to pass(Wilson, 1992). The decade had began with around 25 million automobiles on the roads. By the year 1950 the country had made the automobile job to a consumer based economy. By this time the country had produced about 8 million cars.

Consumerism and the post war affluence was one thing that allowed the Americans to break up with their past life styles (Wilson, 1992). This time the United States seemed to be a good place to live in. Americans were still facing the racial divisions and were not yet settled. This time the traditional gender roles were highly emphasized on to come up with a strong nation (Wuthnow, 1989). Gender roles were put into emphasis to make sure that every other individual had a role to play in making the country develop. The young people in the war suffered discrimination

After the Second World War American forces reflected in the discrimination that they had suffered sat home. There experience had so much related to the political awareness. American had so much suffered outback of racial discrimination (Wuthnow, 1989). There was so much discrimination and nobody could tell who the enemy really was. The youth had so much faced pressure as they tried to compete with the growing economy. The youth at this time refused to serve in the military.

The role of religion in post-WWII society was to bring people together for unity. It was also to enhance the growth of the religious rights in the public square and at the same time led to the growth of non European ethnic religious communities (Wuthnow, 1989). Religion made the people of America to be loyal to the faith and to the political bodies as well. The religion was so much attached to the matters of the political affairs and joined many diverse groups together under one God.
