I am a nurse by profession whereby from the word profession means that I am chosen and have got long training. There is also formal qualification and the occupation is paid in order to call it a profession. Nursing professional should therefore show much competence, knowledge and skills in their profession. Professionalism is the process or the act of behavior in way that is expected from a trained and knowledgeable manner according to your profession. The professionalism has helped me as a nurse to bear all the responsibilities with care and love. Professionalism helps nursing professional with positive altitude and willingness of helping others people. Professionalism is also important for nurses to understand that the profession is of more importance than the job. It calls for sacrifice and dedication to serve other people (Hine, 2012).
Nursing career call for a dedication and competence whereby the professionalism helps the nurses to maintain or uphold the standards and values concerning their behaviors. In addition, nursing profession includes many values which are beneficial to an individual and helps one to act with love and care to the clients. Professionalism in nursing helps the individual to act responsibly in their work. Professionalism contained in a person will be known according to the behaviors displayed to those people around an individual. Altitude in the nursing profession proclaims to the world the person you are (Muller ET all. 2008).
I consider the leaders in my organization as stewards because they got the skills and knowledge. The leaders in our organization are committed in provision of the best and quality services to the customers. They keep implementing and developing new model of treatment to cater for the lives of many people. In addition, they normally take risks in their finances in order to cater for the wellness of the patients. This makes our leaders more stewards in our organization whereby they also produce remarkable results from their profession. On the other hand, advocacy in nursing entails moral principles and ethnics. Our nurses seek to influence the political leaders, the society and also the economic status for the wellbeing of the people. It is of great importance that leaders exercise advocacy in our organization. This effort helps in the development and coordination of ideas whereby the code of ethics is also included (Marks, 2009).
In conclusion, leaders should exercise professional advocacy and authenticity when dealing with other in order to produce the best results out of their profession. It is of great importance for the leaders to portray their personality and the spirit of work in order to influence other people to work with competence. They should also exercise their power in their profession in order to gain respect and also trust to the people they are serving. Advocacy and authenticity in one’s profession has much influence not only to the people being served but also to those around you. People are able to entrust you as a leader to serve them from your actions and behaviors according to your profession (Hine, 2012).
