BUS 518 Week 10 Discussion Project Management

Project Management” Please respond to the following:

Given various project management situations during the closing stage of a project, outline three suggested leadership actions, as described in this week’s Kloppenborg text, to address both of the following situations:

All budgets for the project have been depleted, and yet there are several steps needed to complete the project that require funding.

Three suggested leadership actions that should be taken when the budget for the project has been depleted and there are still several steps to be completed that require funding are auditing, reassigning resources, and seeking more funding. Throughout the project the project manager should be aware if the project is going over budget. The project manager should complete frequent audits to ensure that resources are being allocated properly. In addition, the project manager should be seeking ways to get things completed at a lower cost. In addition, the project manager could prepare a presentation to request more funds from the owner to ensure that everything is completed successfully.

New information comes to light that radically affects the project’s scope; for instance, management has recently purchased equipment that functions more effectively than the project team’s solution.

In the event that new information comes to light that radically affects the project’s scope it needs to be communicated effectively. One of the biggest issues with working in groups is communication. Effective communication ensures a smooth transition and allows the other team members to be more receptive to the change. In addition, the team needs to have a plan in place that they can execute in the event that there is a change in the project along the way.
