Watch the video segment titled “Business Problems/Ethics.” How does the globalization of business affect how you would analyze the ethical issues surrounding the use of child labor around the world?
The idea of globalization has come with its own share of challenges, and especially the problems associated with the issues of the use of child labor in production activities across the world (Gurnani, 2015). The use of children to provide labor is wrong, and it is an activity which should not only be condemned but also dealt with a lot of strictness. However, the globalization of businesses affects the manner in which would analyze the ethical issues surrounding the use of child labor around the world, because, in some countries, there are laws which are set to allow children to work, instead of them being idle and contributing nothing to their families and their country’s economy (Bachman, 2000). Using child labor, however, remains a major challenge and a wrong approach to production. Children should not be subjected to any forced working schedule, but instead, they should only be trained on how to be responsible people. Globalized institutions should embrace the labor rules and regulations of each and every state they operate. Globalization should, thus, not be taken as an excuse to misuse children by forcing them to work for long hours, or in areas where they are not supposed to be working.
Watch the video segments titled “Temptations vs. Ethical Dilemmas” and “Resolution Principles.” Discuss the difference between a temptation and an ethical dilemma in the context of an experience you have had, and describe how you resolved the matter.
There are various ethical dilemmas which exist in the world. The dilemmas include Worthwhile Work, Work versus Family, moving Along With the Crowd, Leaders Misleads, acting as Change Agent, as well as human Careers and the Common Good (Hanson, 2014). There are various differences between a temptation and an ethical dilemma in our lives. For me, I had experienced a temptation of correcting my boss, who was misleading us. My boss had used the wrong approach to solving one of the production challenges were had been experiencing in our organization (Sheldon & Fishbach, 2015). I solved the issue by taking a bold step, as every other employee warned me of taking such an action, and told my boss that he was misleading the organization and that he needed to change his approach.
Watch the video segment titled “Future Business Dilemmas.” Identify and discuss an issue confronting21st century businesses today, and explain how you would analyze and resolve the issue. For example, what questions and/or research would you employ, and on what basis would you make your determination?
There are various business dilemmas which exist in businesses, such as the financial dilemmas, management dilemmas, as well as the technological dilemma (Carroll, 2000). However, based on the video segment titled “Future Business Dilemmas”, one major confronting issue is the dilemma of technology. The advancements I technology has always remained a major dilemma for a majority of the businesses across the world, since, many do not know, whether the next technological advancement will lead to an extinction of the technology they are using, hence, moving them back to the drawing table. This business dilemma is pressing in many businesses across the world. To resolve this issue, I would investigate the various possibilities of having better technological advancements in the world. I would base my argument on the increased quest for technological advancements in the society.
