For every teacher, the true pride of being one is from the impact that their instructions have on their student, and not from planning field trips and other tasks that teachers perform. A teachers’ awareness that he/she has taught students hoe to think, to perform or do some things they would otherwise not be able to is the most fulfilling thing about being a teacher. It is for this reason that assessment and planning for instruction is so important. Assessing your students is important in noting your child’s position, while having a plan makes the teacher aware of the curriculum outcomes, as well as placing him/her in a better position to modify the lessons in order to fit the specific characteristics of his/her students.

The relationship between assessment and instructional planning is tightly held by Response to Intervention (RTI), which is an approach of early identifying and supporting students who have different learning needs, and meeting the needs. In the case study, Mrs. Ashland clearly utilizes the RTI approach, when she displays that she is keen to notice the behaviors of hers students. She notices the areas they are individually weak in, and provides them with interventions aimed at improving them in the specific areas, as she monitors their progress. I think RTI is very important, in avoiding poor results, and in this case, setting up a solid educational foundation for kids. This is because information from the screening and progress monitoring of the students used to compare how adequate the core curriculum is as well as how effective different instructional and behavioral strategies are for different groups of students. This is one of the key roles that RTI will be playing in my future interaction with kids, mostly because of the fact that I will be responsible for the early childhood development kids.
