12-1: Using the information in Table 12-7 on page 249, construct a PERT network and answer each of the following questions (10 points):
a. What is the expected project completion date? (5 points)
b. What is the scheduled start and completion date for each activity? (5 points)
c. Which activities are on the critical path? (5 points)

What is the expected project completion data? (5 points)
Expected project completion date is the summation of the durations of the expected activities that lie on the critical path. This can be calculated using either Forward pass method (Earliest start time) or Backward (Latest start time) pass method.
Applying Earliest start time, then:
For the earliest start time: ETj = max (ETi + tij
ET1=0, ET2= ET1+t12=0+4=4
ET3= (ET2+t26) =4+9=13
ET4= (ET3+t67) =13+4=17
ET5= (ET4+t75) =17+4=21
ET6= (ET5+t5-14) =21+3=24
ET7= (ET6+t14-15) =24+1=25
ET8= (ET7+t15-16) =25+2=27
ET9= (ET8+t16-17) =27+4=31
ET10= (ET9+t17-18) =31+1=32
Therefore, using forward pass method the expected completion date = 32 weeks.
What is the scheduled start and completion date for each activity? (5 points)
| Activity | Scheduled start date(week number) | Scheduled completion date(week number) |
| A | 0 | 4 |
| B | 4 | 5 |
| C | 5 | 6 |
| D | 6 | 8 |

| Q | 11 | 14 |
| R | 5 | 6 |
| S | 24 | 25 |
| T | 25 | 27 |
