Crises are the occurrences which affect people or students both directly or indirectly. School shooting caused impacts not only to the students but also to the whole community. This therefore called for plans and steps to be implemented which may reduce or fully mitigate this threat. First, there was identification of the crisis team which identified the factors which lead to the disasters. The crisis team also had the responsibility of evaluating the ability of the school to sustain the threat. For the management of the school shooting, the managers were able to come up with four steps of dealing with the threat which include, mitigation or prevention of the risks of the threat in order to safe life and property. Preparedness was also another step which was encouraged for the students and other community members in order to be able to tackle the worst scenario. Response and recovery were also planned steps to undertake because crisis management is a continuous process which need keen attention. These were the good plans which were put into actions and are continuously revised for the purpose of crisis management (Knox & Roberts, 2010).
The characteristics and skills that enabled the responders to act effectively to school shooting was that they focused on making cognitive responses to the victims but not emotional responses. The responders ensured that they used the emergency guidelines to the latter in order to make effective and immediate response to school shooting. The responders had kept good, effective and accurate communication plans with the parents and school community for any emergency occurrence. The director of the crisis team was able to effectively coordinate the team to act effectively. In addition, they were organized and managed themselves well whereby the director was very strict on time management. There were many other skills and characteristics the crisis team portrayed to the school shooting which need to be rewarded (Dwyer, Osher & Warger, 2008).
The children need an assurance to be protected after the threat has happened. The adults need to talk to the students to assure the security and protection within and out of the school. The school counselor should understand that every student or learner reacts differently to the crisis. He or she should therefore be able to tackle different students from different emotional trauma. The school counselor should provide guidance and counseling to the learners depending on how emotional one affected. Some learners have difficulties in explaining their feelings so the counselor should be able to cope with them and listen what they are saying and keenly observe their behaviors too. The school counselor should be able to stabilize the school environment by creating well and effecting counseling to the students in order to come back to normal state. The school counselor should support all the students and more so those more traumatized by ensuring that he or she has explored different ways of coping with stress by practicing them (Knox & Roberts, 2010).
An evidenced based practice is one way of receiving attention which is considerable and within the field of human service. In order to react to the threat actions I would convert the needs of the learners to an answerable manner. In order to be able to answer the needs of the learners you have to track down the evidences which are clinical for the question. Appraising the evidence to check for validity and usefulness should be done immediately. Integrate and evaluate the appraisal for the effectiveness of making some improvement. Very important part in evidence based practice is first reviewing the available evidence which may consist of reviews from literature, studies and articles. Funding is also important to the participating responders to ensure that every stage is done effectively without delays (Dwyer, Osher & Warger, 2008).

The school is committed and dedicated to maintain a strong partnership with the parents in order to make our school environment the best learning institute and offer the best education to our children. The main aim of partnership with the parents is to make communication more open and effective to better not only present but also future success. For this reason, I want to assure you that there is tight security in protection of our children concerning the bomb threat notice which was sent to Kilimani secondary school. The school informs you that no child was harmed during the commotions of the bomb threat and everyone is safe.
We promise to continue communicating with you through written messages, mails, auto dialer and any other media of communication to keep you informed. We ask you to take also the responsibility as parents to keep us informed about any rumor or behavior of any terrorist for the safety of our school and community at large. We have counselors and other assistants to help the students who might feel that they need any help through guidance and counseling regarding the fear within the school. We focus on ensuring that every student is well settled and helped by all means in creation of better learning environment. We request you to feel free to communicate any information available and to work hand in hand with the school.
