“Leadership and Ethics” Please respond to the following:
Use the Internet to research someone you believe to be an ethical leader of a company. Focus on his or her actions of ethical leadership that support your viewpoint. Next, define what you believe constitutes ethical leadership. Provide two (2) examples of the selected leader’s actions that fit your definition of ethical leadership.
Ethical leadership is a leader who is trustworthy and display unshakeable integrity, be action-oriented, resilient in the face of setbacks while treating people with respect, not as mere units of production. Ethical leaders are fair, courageous, defy group-think and accept the backlash against their unorthodox practices. The leader I chose wasn’t conformed to what society or her employer thought she should be. She took the initiative to go above and beyond to motivate and inspire others through positivity and kindness. She recognizes those who treat others with respect, fairness and compassion. She is committed to fulfilling her goals and displays great communication skills and respect to everyone she comes across.
Evaluate the leadership of a leader in your organization, or prior organization, in terms of the seven (7) habits of ethical leaders. Determine one (1) area in which this leader could improve upon, and suggest one (1) action that this leader could take in order to do so. Note: Please do not identify workplaces or leaders by name.
One area in which the leader of my past organization could improve upon would be considering all stakeholder’s interests. Use empathic listening to genuinely influenced employees, which compels them to reciprocate that listening skill. When you really listen to your employee’s feelings about the company, services, and procedures you will be better equipped to improve those things, as well as to encourage their ethical behavior. This also creates an atmosphere of caring, respect, and positive problem solving.
