Policing Budget Challenge

Police budget situation seem to improve each day because of the frequent training and recruiting of new police. Areas which have shown much improvement include the training sector, recruiting sector and also the officer pay Raises. This improvement has been seen from 2010 to 2012 whereby responding time to calls has also increase due to the budget cut. On the other hand, there are also areas which have not yet portrayed changes which include hiring freezes, technology, redeployments whereby they tend to save money to avoid development. Many people believe that the economic downturn has impacted on the level of violent crime within the state. Early release policies have also impacted two-thirds of the people whereby the prison have changed and cost reduced. This has led to nonviolent inmates to be released which have impacted on the cost too (Bursik, 2008).

According to Worthen (2009) there are also new methods which were implemented later in order to cut the budget. There was maintaining the patrol function which was seen as one major way of cutting the budget. There was elimination of those special units whereby some qualified officers were returned back to working division. Chiefs have taken keen interest on patrol practices and also precaution measures in order to improve policing state. Chief Simpson also promised to focus on community policing in order to provide security of door to door. The patrol idea has had a lot of impact not only to the community but also the state security. The Corpus Christi police development also introduced tactics which led to avoidance of layoff in order to reduce the fear of crime and also mitigate the crime rates.

In conclusion, the future policing have also been improved by the chief whereby there is motion of maintaining and improving the morale of the employees. The community is also involved in the regulatory matters whereby this has also lead to volunteer work. Much improvement has been witnessed as compared to the past developments. The improvement on the present policing will even continue till the future objectives are met. Camden has got also smart policing methods in order to reduce the effects of budget cuts. This is made possible by lying off the experienced officers to work on the patrol centers. Technology is also being used at personal level in order to improve the management strategies (Bursik, 2008).
