Supply chain management ensures competitive performance by amalgamating internal functions in an organization and effectively connecting them with the exterior operations channel members and suppliers. Project management, on the other hand, refers to the implementation of process, skills, knowledge, methods and experience to achieve project goals. “Competition is no longer from company to company, but supply chain to supply chain” (Lambert, 2014)

In project management, supply chain management plays a major role through sustained focus on risk prevention or mitigation, strategic partnerships with competitive operators and identification of growth potential. SCM plays a key role in operational efficiency which is essential in ensuring customer satisfaction and hence the project success (Cooper, 2013) .Supply chain management has been proven to be essential in increasing productivity and profitability, increasing technological innovation, cutting costs, improving organizational competitiveness (Lee, 2015)

In implementing a project, SCM provides various vital techniques and tools that are a vital diagnosis of potential problems hence providing necessary solutions for them. Therefore, the impacts of SCM on project management entail; improving client satisfaction, providing efficient strategy in manufacturing, improving process integration, increasing cash flow, gives high-profit margin and increases and quality (Lockamy et al 2014)

The goal setting technique helps one to check their behavior against their goals and therefore helps one to ensure discipline and hence translating to improved performance. Praising is all about recognizing effort, this is essential in employee motivation and performance since their good deeds are recognized and appreciated. Substituting punishment for a training technique also contributes to the morale of the employee by making them discover their wrong doing and appreciating their potential also contributes to employee morale and will do better next time without hurting their feelings. Therefore the three approaches (goal setting, reprimand and praise) are very and essential and applicable in today’s workforce.
