More emphasis was placed on studies that ensured the evaluation of outcomes compared to the studies that dealt with processed of coming up with as well as implementing projects and programs. The study employed Maryland Scale that ensured the categorization of research as well as the evaluation as per the methodological weaknesses and strength in five levels. According to the article, crime can be kept low through the use of both social policy as well as programs of preventing crime. The study found out that the only option of ensuring the reduction of crime is through coming up with management mechanism for instance policy integration in various institutional affiliations developed in various projects for instance, integration and management of public security (IGESP) and Stay Alive (Fica Vivo). The main differences that emerge between the US and Brazil when it comes to the action by the government in the security area is that Brazil’s problem urgency force policy-makers to ensure the adoption of the various strategies at different intervention levels. Unlike in US, Brazil’s preference is broader policies instead of projects and programs and this offers the explanation of immense difficulties in conducting outcomes evaluations and determines benefits and costs. The evaluations of numerous programs of preventing crime dearth distinguish the South America from the US. The documented experience as well as the academic output centered on the programs of preventing crimes in the US as well as other developed countries outnumbers the ones carried out in Brazil as well as other developing countries.
