Department of Homeland Security is a unit in the security department of the United State of America that is a task to protect the citizens and the territory. It is the most significant unity that deals with a terrorist attack, accident initiated by man and the natural disaster that are likely to hit the United States. It is an equivalent unit to the ministry of internal security in most of the countries around the world. The main objective of the DHS is to carry out surveillance by patrolling al the regions of the United States.

Importance of the Department of Homeland Security

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is concerned with the role of keeping the United States a safe place on earth. It is a field that requires educational requirement from individuals interested in the laws, finance, policy and politics (Bellavita, 2015). The above options are implemented by DHS at both writings and passing laws. It is a process of fighting the criminals and ensuring freedom for all residents.

DHS engagement of the private enterprise

DHS is tasked with the responsibility of inquiring into the practise of all the citizens of the United States of America. It acts as a unit that ensures compliance with the law in all the sectors of the economy within the U.S boundaries. Sector Coordinating Councils (SCC) is responsible for coordinating all the function of the DHS in order to avoid conflicts that might arise during maintaining security.

Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources – The strategies that Concern the implementation of the security program are planned and revised by the DHS. It is evident that the relationship is important n protecting the infrastructure in progress and related missions. The process of raising awareness of the critical nature of infrastructure is At the most crucial part and it is spearheaded by the CIKR cross-sector Council in coordination with the DHS. The private is assured of their safety while carrying out their investments activities based on the role of the CIKR cross-sector council (Renda-Tanali, 2014).

DHS prevention mission

State, Local, Tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments – The under counterterrorism is a unit within the DHS that is tasked with the role of uncovering the truth behind any suspicion that is send to the security system. It the role of the DHS to secure the territory and ensure that the state and locals do not suffer a terror attacks of tribal conflicts.

Private enterprises – The demonstration might arise within the organisation that is handling the infrastructural activities of the United States and investors. It is the role of the DHS to quench any conflict that arise within the workforce. Similarly, tribal and territorial issue on the workforce is prevented by the DHS.

Individuals – communities and tribal grouping within the United States are maintained in a state of harmony through the ability of the DHS to prevent conflict that might arise.

State, Local, Tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments – In the case where demonstration are directed towards the government, it is the role of the DHS to enforce laws and order. DHS does the maintenance of the laws until the point when the demonstrator becomes unruly.

Private enterprises – The role of the private sector in the case where they are dealing with the government contracts is subject to the laws. The process of ensuring compliance is assigned a unit from the DHS to ensure that standards and policies are followed (Sensitive Security Information).

Individuals – When dealing with individuals, the DHS has a special program that evaluates the origin or the identity of the persons. Based on the ultimate demographics of the United States of America, all the citizens can be traced to their homes. Criminals can, therefore, be arrested using the response unit based on the immigrant surveillance.

DHS recovery mission

State, Local, Tribal, and territorial (SLTT) governments – cyber security systems has given the DHS an upper hand needed in evaluating the progress of the passengers and the citizens of the United states of America. Information that is passed through the internet is evaluated and the consistency of the information is checked to assess the compliance with the laws. Policies are also drafted to help the recovery of the information which can help identify a certain individual who can be handed over to the FBI for further follow-up investigations (Sensitive Security Information).

Private enterprises – The recovery of private enterprise especially when there are damages incurred is considered a tricky undertaking in the united state. The expenses associated with such activities are quite high compare to the response and protections missions. The projects or infrastructure are quoted in billions of dollars and the DHS is tasked to help the private sector in rebuilding its losses and tracing the causes of the encounters.

Individuals – The location of crimes scenes and the accidents areas has been made possible by the use of the most effective disaster response unit. It is evident that the DHS is equipped with highly trained personnel who actively monitor occurrences in the region on a timely basis. The data can, therefore, be received from all part of the US based on their well-maintained network of expertise.

Conclusion

It is evident that DHS provides a crosscutting role in the United States of America in ensuring safety of the citizen .following the analysis of the various roles of the DHS is quite clear to draw the following functions: immigration and border security, cyber security, counterterrorism and the disaster response and recovery. Therefore, the role of the director is to acts in accordance with the laws in ensuring proper coordination of law the functions and minimizes conflicts that might arise.
