An Interview on Nursing Manager

I am a nursing manager in health care organization. My role as a nursing manager is to ensure that the staffs are offering the best quality services. This will be effective whereby I will ensure that have dedicated myself and exercised my nursing leadership in the organization. My managerial skills and expertise will foster the best results in the management of nurses in the organization. It is through the management of nurses that the patients are well attended to. The role of a manager in health care organization is to ensure that maximum support is given to all the patients in need. The manager should ensure that every activity within the organization is done in the best way possible for the comfort of the patients and their families. They work towards the goals of the organization and ensuring that innovative ideas also flow in the organization (Swayne, Duncan & Ginter, 2012).

As a manager, professionalism is the competence of a professional or can also be the skills expected of a professional. The skills and competence of a manager should be portrayed in his or her management. As a manager, professionalism has helped me to foster the best results through dedication and love of my profession. Professionalism is very important to an individual as it trains one to have altitude and willingness as a manager to exercise your expertise and skill within the organization. Professionalism helps the manager to have the best judgment skills and behavior towards the other staffs. It trains one to exercise politeness and act knowledgeable in his or her management. Professionalism is very influential to an individual according to the trained profession (World Health Organization, 2009).

I consider myself as a steward in my organization. As a manager, I ensure that my organization offers the best results to our patients. The patients are served to their best and according to their need. There is much innovation that I have done in my organization since I become the manager. In addition, I do take risk of my time and finance for the improvement of the standards and state of the organization. I manage the organization to the best to ensure that it runs smoothly in day- to –today lives. The health and satisfaction of the patient is my happiness whereby it’s through effective management of the nurses. I also collaborate with the doctors to ensure that the top skilled doctors are recruited in my organization. It is important as a leader to have good relationship and effective communications with your subjects to allow them give any information they have for the betterment of the organization (Swayne, Duncan & Ginter, 2012).

In conclusion, advocacy and authenticity is my key element to my managerial skills. These are the most influential skills not only within the organization but also to the environment surrounding the organization. Exercise of power is also important as you build trust and respect from those you are serving. It is important also to exercise authenticity and advocacy within the organization with much knowledge and skills to serve people with competence and dedication (World Health Organization, 2009).
