World View Analysis and Personal Inventory

You can heal yourself! As this well-received topic is surfacing in today’s health care all over the world, it comes with a promise of astonishing results, as it encourages and empowers people to take ownership of their own health. As it is not seemingly known to lots of nurses and the patient is the more philosophical viewpoint also known as worldview and preeminent value that underlies a self-healing movement and a crucial substitute therapy, which include acupuncture, yoga, imaginary guidance, meditation, as well as therapeutic touch. Most often patients and their nurses are greatly unaware that this worldview is deeply rooted in an abundance of alternative medicine and therapies that favor the self-healing process in a very specific form and eventually is conflicting with other known worldviews that have given history its form and values of today’s known nursing profession.

Nature of spirituality and ethics in contrast to the perspective of postmodern relativism within health care

Every person seems to find a different meaning in the term spirituality. Often this correlates with the participation of an organized religion, such as attending church, mosques, temples, or synagogues. And others see spirituality as a non-religious encounter, that has many forms and differs from person to person. Many use sound meditations, yoga exercise, private prayer, or quiet reflection as these avenues.

A connection between current healthcare practices and spirituality has been shown in many ways. Researchers present positive outcomes of an improved overall well-being of a person with many of these spiritual practices offered throughout the world. Spirituality from the Christian perspective translates into the value of our relationship and in which way our utmost love demands. This utmost love is “God”. Our own spirituality molds the perception of everything around us. It also influences the outlook we have on life and supports the moral character and which manner the growth of our commitment to God will develop and flourish. Often ethics is seen solely about making a decision and to find right or wrong in this decision, but ethics has also an interest in the personal character, the identity and ideals, commitment, attitude, and desire of that individual.

Postmodern Relativism maintains a very broad philosophical stance with the affirmation of nonexistence of the truths or the objective reality that is possible to be known (GCU.2019). It relays the concept of common sense is not in the view of relativism, as it is created more so by society and people as supposed to discovered (GCU.2019). The existence of “God” is rejected by post-modernism theorists.

What is Scientism

A believe of scientism is described as the only and the best way to get knowledge of any kind of reality is by the way of science (GCU.2019). Worldview incorporates this system of science and its followers consider it as the fundamental of all known worldviews. Rejection of Scientism by Christianity is due to the sole manifestation of material and physical factors, and the interruption of actual spirituality (Shelly & Miller, 2006). Scientism was first discovered in the early 1600s, and made claims that it can bring enlightenment to how the physical world works and how the people can become masters and possessors of the world. (Global Christian Center, 2017)

The writer has a strong belief of science being very beneficial to the world but that it would have great interest for science and religion to work hand in hand with each other. Unfortunately, two considerable issues exist. For one, scientism has a contradiction in philosophy and has its great limits (GCU.2019). Science also gives an abundance of knowledge of the natural world but lacks to assess the ethical part and the moral values that should be followed or considered. In great length, the Christian worldview is not consistent with scientific worldview.

Personal Worldview

Personal worldview representation is the key to our fundamental belief and our own assumption of life. It is the perspective on the existence and what most matters to us, the way it shapes our thinking and knowledge absorption. Before this call, the term worldview was unknown to this writer and needed a variety of reading and research to gain knowledge of the differences. The written statements are gained out of Christian worldview with the knowledge that was acquired through the readings of given assignments and additional research.

What is Ultimate Reality?

For all Christians the definition of the ultimate reality is something that is supreme, final, and fundamental power in all reality. It is the absolute nature of all things. It truly comes down to the question, “What is real?” In the Bible, it says” in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). This is our reality of Higher Authority as it is the distinct and proven response to prayers and answers of miracles. We cannot answer our own questions; if that were so, we would know all there is to know. For all Christians and this writer, God is the endmost and all reality.

What is the nature of the Universe?

Everyone in life has purpose of existence as God has plans in place for the individual from the minute of creation of the human being. We are created with the power to make decisions and our personal choices. As a God exists in our believes, order is present and chaos will be extinguished. In current times the nature of the Universe is very unbalanced as there is much chaos seen around the world. With events such as hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, many Christians believe our last days are now.

What is a human being?

Human beings were created by God in His image (Gen. 1:26) as they are created to serve Him with the ultimate sacrifice to his final work. The knowledge of Heaven and Hell forms our earthly deeds. God does not send us heaven or hell but our own actions or sins will do.

What is Knowledge?

Often the work knowledge is defined as the ability of one person to know what God is doing or intends to do in the life of another person. We are invited to consider the claims of Jesus as a knowledge tradition. With acceptance, we come to know the living God and live life according to the knowledge provided in His word as he is “all-wise”.

What is your basis of ethics?

Most of us are taught what is right or wrong from the beginning of childhood with guidance of parents and leadership found in faith. As ethics are referred to theories produced by the study, interpretation, and evaluation of biblical morals that will build our personal character traits received with God’s approval. The ultimate basis for our Christian ethics is the moral character of God and the honor received in His eyes.

What is the purpose of your existence?

This is the ultimate question of all, “Who am I?” It is a question only I can answer as I find my own manifestation. It is my own effort in the connection with my higher-self and build my relationship with Him, our Creator is very personal. Nobody can change or even interfere that. I have learned to never escape reality that I am put into, but when I am able to connect with my higher-self, I am able to realize the truth. Ultimately, my only purpose is to self-evolve, to continuously reflect4, and improve upon the old me.

Conclusion

Ultimately, it is paramount to understand our own worldview, as it is to understand the views of others. As this will shape our own values, decision making, moral views and ideals, what we believe in or willing to believe, as well as how interact with others around us. Studying worldviews forces one to address the important key questions and shapes ones thinking about different issues.
