Environmental Justice and Environmental Racism – PowerPoint Presentation

Environmental Justice and Environmental Racism

Justice or Injustice for All?

According to the concepts of the utilitarian theory, the benefits of nuclear power plants outweigh the negative impact on surrounding minority communities despite their right to have access to clean air, water, and natural resources. Although the industry leaders have obligations to minimize the negative impact, there continues to be environmental racism in our communities.

Nuclear power industries have a moral obligation to make ethical decisions concerning how energy is supplied now and for the future.

There are pros and cons to operating nuclear power plants, however the benefits for the country outweigh the cost.

Nuclear power plants have rules and regulations, which are set forth by the EPA, NRC, DHS, and FEMA in which they have to follow. These regulatory practices help them operate within the law, and minimize the impact on the environment and people in the surrounding communities.
