Assessment Project- Part 2

The previous assignment is so important in terms of meeting the K-12 assessment goals in my school district because the K-12 Assessment is responsible for all aspects of student assessment programs including development, scoring, administering, and reporting the results as well as working with the administration and helping it to get the welfare of the students’ progress by reporting of several other K-12 various contracts with assessment vendors. The key topmost and primary goal of carrying out these assessment is to provide enough knowledge about student progress as per the school’s requirements.

Many children are simply unable to get individual focused and flexible learning that they need in a classroom. Parents, educators and teachers who choose K-12 are in a position to understand the great potential of an individualized education. K-12 has played a very important role in the district schools because it enables the teachers to be able to know how well students are doing and performing in variety subjects at different grade levels and different ages. It gives a unique opportunity to benchmark on the performance of students by their teachers. The enhanced K-12 education basic education system will greatly contribute to the development of emotionally and intellectually mature individuals capable of pursuing productive employment and entrepreneurship and even higher education disciplines.

According to (chappuis, 2004), there are some assessment goals that a district school has currently been using in order to ensure that there is a smooth learning in school and that they have created a conducive learning environment for the students and also a healthy environment for good interactions between students and their teachers. The goals are as follows; creating a culture of improvement through purposeful innovation and adhering to the best practices. This was ensuring that there has been an implementation of efficient and consistent professional development for all the students, teachers and also the school employees for them to be able to utilize traditional and creative methods.

Another set goal was ensuring fully maximization of the students’ potential by recognizing their individual talents and strengths. This was being exercised by my district school in order to ensure that there is a good academic program for the students so that they may be able to best prepare for post-secondary education and careers. The school has also been promoting a healthy, safe and effective environments for the students hence emphasizing social and emotional well-being, kindness, honesty and digital citizenship. It has also been enhancing communication and collaboration between and among and between the district staff, parents, students, board of education and the community at large. The school has also been making sure that it has utilized the multi-year financial plans to guide and influence decisions. This has enabled the school activities to run as expected and as planned and by so doing, making the budget to be followed as planned. This has ensured that they have followed the fiscally responsible long-term strategic plans to enhance facilities, technology and support services.

The school has also been running its activities smoothly recording a very good performance whereby by so doing has achieved its goal of attracting and retaining students and families to the district. Since every student yearns for success and it is also the happiness of a parent to see his or her child flourishing and performing excellently in education, they have been attracted by the good name of the district school where they target to quench their thirst of attaining and getting quality education. Finally, the last goal that has been put in to place by the district school is, systematically assessing the strength of their programs by use of the internal and external measurements in order to ensure that they have made the child to thrive wholly in this globally competitive age and enhance the achievement of the child by making sure that it has provided a dynamic learning community in a rigorous academic environment.

This topic in question has played a very important role in the district schools. This is because, my district school has been able to fulfil its educational responsibilities in fostering student development and learning by ensuring that all students have equitable access to the tools, resources, and they information they need to succeed and also building capacity to improve learning and teaching. The second reason as to why I have chosen this topic is because there has been provisions of incentives for states and districts to provide a coherent and comprehensive assessment systems that enhance decision making and also provide the evidence of the student and school performance in relation to excellent and challenging educational goals by the use of multiple student indicator of student learning from a variety of various sources. The other reason is because of the assessment and accountability for diverse population in order to shape the design, construction, and application of assessment systems so that they are appropriate for the increasing diverse student population.

According to (Chappuis, 2006), educators should employ the following strategies in order to utilize technology within classrooms to aid their district schools in meeting the k-12 assessment goals. According to (Kleiman, 2006), those strategies should be able to ensure that technology has been utilized to the maximum. The first strategy is to have access to the increased communication by maintaining an up-to-date internet web page which gives information about the school for the parents and the community to access. Another strategy is the strategy of internet safety whereby it should provide safe and appropriate internet access through the district firewall which is compliant with the CIPA procedures. The parents, teachers and students will be required to read accept and sign an acceptable use policy. The other strategy should be the annual technology survey whereby, there will be maximum utilization of data from k-12 students, parents, teachers and administrators in order to make key technology decisions.
