Lush Cosmetics is a company that’s bringing green to the beauty regimen with its all-natural products; it’s reinvented the way beauty products are packaged. This is a business that introduced packaging-free cosmetics like solid shampoo, massage bars, and bath “bomb” which they visually capitalize on at their stores with colorful product displays free from excessive boxes or wrapping. If packaging is unavoidable, they prefer to use recycled materials. They prefer their packaging to be reused, recycled or composted at the end of their lives. Lush is committed to using recyclable and biodegradable materials, and all its products contain ingredients that have minimal impact on the environment. Lush believes in protecting people, animals, and the planet. The core of their philosophy is based on the highest levels of ethical standards with the lowest possible impact on the environment. They are committed to becoming more sustainable as they grow. So, environmental and social stewardship are critical elements in the business decisions that they make daily.

Determine the major effects that an organization’s environmental awareness has on its sustainability. Recommend one (1) approach that HR can take to use an organization’s environmental awareness in order to attract and retain top talent.

A company’s main objective and legal obligation is to make money and maximize profits for its shareholders. Customers respond to sustainability, and businesses have reacted to that over the years. Corporate social responsibility advocates believe a company has a clear duty of care to all stakeholders connected to or impacted by a company’s operation. The operations of a company can motivate the best talents. Potential employees are more likely to work for an organization whose values are like their own. These candidates are looking for jobs that seek to make a social or environmental difference in the world. Corporate values are a key factor in a company’s ability to attract and retain a productive workforce. Companies that implement sustainable business practices can often see employee commitment rise because employees feel a strong connection to the values of their company. It’s also those companies that care about their environment and demonstrate strong community focus that is committed to the well-being of their employees.
