International Plastics, Inc. Network Description

International Plastics Inc network at the current rate is experiencing an increasingly high usage and this will lead its failure when its peak is passed. Failure will result in data loss and definitely hamper the operations, productivity and its integrity and reliability. Also as equipments get older with time, their ability to withstand a high traffic with the increasing use will reduce. Older equipments too are susceptible to intruders as they might have found a bug with continued extended use of the network (Buys, Deichmann & Wheeler, 2006).

Existing connection is a T2 internet connection from Pontiac, MI and Albany, NY to the Main headquarters. The location in China and Headquarters has T3 connection. The recommendation is to standardize all connection to OC3 with VPN for improved modern security and reliability. This will also provide the reliability needed in terms of the bandwidth to handle the growing organization’s data exchange needs. The backbone in place also enables the organization to grow without the need of redesigning the network. 10GBaseT with CaT6 to desktop computers minimize latency thus increasing productivity among the employees. Satellites were also done away with. VoIP Standardization across the infrastructure was implemented AND in addition to a PBX server. As for corporation office and marketing office, desktops computers were done away with as their nature of work demands mobility (Gungor & Hancke, 2009). To improve this, wireless access points were introduced.

I also introduced LAN for printers to improve scalability and isolation in instances where there were network failures. OSX Server, WAP, and MAC Books replaced 10GBaseT at the R&D offices also provided separation of R&D department to reduce interruption and improve reliability of the network (Buys, Deichmann & Wheeler, 2006)..

As much and we have such high capacity network system that will handle the organizational needs, there will be downtimes in the organization when upgrading and migrating. This is inevitable. The cost is also very high for such a system. Time will also be lost in the side of the employees as the workstations will not be available costing the organization valuable resources (Gungor & Hancke, 2009).
