Project Management and SDLC

Early this year (2018) a CPU hardware called Meltdown and Spectre almost affected all computers on the market. Both Meltdown and spectre operate independently on the computer. Meltdown allows a program to have access to the memory of a computer and the operating system as well. On the other hand spectre breaks isolation between different applications. (Boyde, 2012)

Basically the concept that was not looked into was on the maintenance of the development system and also on the testing part. The managers failed to test the system on different operating systems to see whether the operating systems of different computers could be able to handle the system architecture. This system failure thus affected many products such as Macs, iPhones and iPads and not forgetting all ARM and Intel designs which were affected by the systems failure. The project managers were supposed to ensure that they maintain the system for the various institutions. Some of the organizations that were affected by the systems failure were realized to be running older system units. (Boyde, 2015)

According to the systems failure I would first put down my IT professionals to find the right remedy for such a mess within a short time frame. Every organization should apply for a patch as soon as it is launched so that the problem can be handle within the organization and the data can be retrieve before the matter gets out of hand. For efficiency of the system I would give strict instructions to all organizations running older operating systems to ensure they update their systems or else they won’t be able to get the system development.
