Case study analysis The two assessments that I choose to use and discuss are the anecdotal records and running records. Anecdotal records are narrative descriptions; stories about children’s behavior (Krogh, 2013). Running records are what a specific child is doing as the event takes place (Krogh, 2013).When it comes Kayla I think the running records will work very well with her because of the way that Kayla is changing in the classroom. Mrs. Ashland has observed these changes not only in her behavior but also in the artwork that she makes in the classroom as well. These changes let Mrs. Ashland know that something is happening in Kayla’s life and that is what is causing the changes in her behavior. Using running records help Mrs. Ashland come to this conclusion because she is observing Kayla in the environment that Kayla is supposed to be comfortable but instead with all the things going on in her life she is very unhappy and these records help Mrs. Ashland see this so that Mrs. Ashland can get Kayla and her family the help that they need. When it comes to Johnny I think that anecdotal records will work well because although he seems to be doing outstanding in developing he is still lacking when it comes to interacting with people. This could be due to Johnny spending most of the time alone because his parents work so much and that is what he is use to so he doesn’t know how to interact very well with others. Using the anecdotal records can help Mrs. Ashland come to this conclusion by making notes about Johnny’s behavior, for example the way that Johnny does not even notice Mrs. Ashland walk by him, even when no one else is in the building. My action plan for Kayla would be just like Mrs. Ashland’s to get information to Kayla’s mother about counseling and other resources that could help her and her family cope with what is going on in their lives. Letting Kayla’s mom know that we care, not only about Kayla but the whole family and we are willing to help anyway that we can.My action plan for Johnny would be to talk with Johnny’s parents anyway that I can, even if it means making a home visit. Also letting his parents know that we could try and help them set up other care or classes for Johnny to attend after daycare hours because it is not fair that Johnny always be the last one at the center and then he is all by himself also. The classes may help Johnny to communicate with other peers that have parents that work just as much as his do and maybe their parents can get together and set up carpools or playdates with the children so that they are not always alone. With using the anecdotal records and the running records we could help the families get the help that they need to better not only their families but also to help with the development of their children.Resources:Krogh, S.
