Part 2

Answer the following in 200 to 350words.

Why is following the Preferred Course Sequence important?

Whenever units of study are put in such a sequence, it is very important since it balances the schedule put in the curriculum hence reducing any form of scheduling conflicts. This ensures that both teachers and students are not inconvenienced in any form and learning becomes a laminar flow. Through well planned sequencing as the one in this BSHA course, confusion is mitigated and progress and interdependence of one unit to another is built. This is where students appreciate learning as it is made progressive whereby for one to understand a certain unit, he must have gone through another as they are inter-linked. Course sequencing also assists the technicians in the department to prepare practices for the students in advance hence ensuring that all of them have enough time to be tackled.

Sequencing has one important role too to the lecturer or the teacher in that they get a guideline that enable them to plan and revise prior on what they are going to teach and the assignment they are going to give to the students as well as the continuous assessment tests and when to offer them. It is a measure of helping them determine if they are still in the right progress in teaching and if they will be in a capacity to finish the syllabus in time. The same happens to the students as they get time to prepare for each unit in the syllabus and they can read ahead in a sequential manner that ensures tranquility.

What are the risks of taking courses out of sequence?

One major risk of ignoring the sequence set in BSHA is that there will rise conflict in learning. This is a health science course and it should have strict follow up of the set sequence as they are interdependent. It would be very unwise to start teaching the student about mathematics while they should be taught first about the foundation of the course. Sequencing creates order and progressive learning and performance in the learning institution and without it disarray will be the result. It is simpler to say that sequencing in any discipline eliminates conflict. Another risk that is eminent is that the course may not be completed in the intended manner as some units would definitely conflict with others. A program is shows order and through order there is progress and without it the vice versa will be eminent. Additionally, the end of course project may be jeopardized due to lack of enough time as a disorderly curriculum leads to time wastage.
