three-day food intake
In my 3-day food intake I was able to learn a lot about my eating habits and to gain a better perspective of my diet. The lipids that I consumed over the three days were from the fatty foods that I ate, such as sushi, chicken, and beef. Lipids come from the fats and oils that are in my diet. (McKinley Health Center, 2008). According to the Dietary Recommenced Intake, I had a low percent of the DRI for protein-carbohydrate-fat intake. My protein intake based on body weight was 10 – 35% of total Kcalories,
The foods in my daily intake that provide protein are QUAKER OATS Cereal, Oat Bran. Chips, Potato, Salted, Banana 1.4 1.3 88.4 3.5, ACE SUSHI Rainbow Sushi, ACE SUSHI Roll, Hawaii, EL POLLO LOCO Chicken, Leg, Flame Grilled, Eggs, Hard Boiled, ETHNIC GOURMET Entree, Malay Chicken Curry, Frozen. The foods on my intake report that provide carbohydrates are QUAKER OATS Cereal, Oat Bran. Chips, Potato, Salted, Banana, ACE SUSHI Rainbow Sushi, ACE SUSHI Roll, Hawaii, Eggs, Hard Boiled, ETHNIC GOURMET Entree, Malay Chicken Curry, Frozen. The foods that provide Lipids are; EL POLLO LOCO Chicken, Hard Boiled, ETHNIC GOURMET Entree, Malay Chicken Curry, Frozen, STARBUCKS FRAPPUCCINO Bottled Coffee
Drink, Coffee, ACE SUSHI Rainbow Sushi, ACE SUSHI Roll, Hawaii.
My intake of carbohydrates, protein and lipid is way off. In doing this report it has shown me that I have an extremely un healthy and un balanced diet.
Macronutrient Intake
Macronutrients are an essential part of our daily intake as the nutrient provides our bodies with calories and energy. We need macronutrients for metabolism building and body growth. There are three macronutrients;carbohydrates, protein, and fat (McKinley Health Center, 2008).Whe one consumes to much macronutrients we can become fat, if we eat to little of it we may lose our bodies healthy fat, which will cause our bodies to break down. If we eat too little protein, carbohydrates, or lipids, our bodies may be malnourished, which will not have a good effect for our bodies.
Fiber Intake Ranges
My fiber intake over the three days was very low. Fiber is important part of your diet for cleansing out the body’s waste. A build-up of waste is bad for the body and leads to many diseases that cause severe damage to the body. Some common diseases are colon cancer and diabetes. The most important piece of information that I learnt from this spreadsheet is that I should consume more fiber, foods rich in fiber such as fruits and vegetables. Some examples of foods that are high in fiber would include pears, apples, black beans, and brown rice. (McKinley Health Center, 2008).
What would I change about my diet after this?
I am going to pay closer attention to what I eat. My body lacks fiber and I will be seeking out foods that are high in fiber.
